Project Lead the Way and Project Lead the Way Gateway Program

In 2014, the district introduced Project Lead the Way (PLTW) into its catalog of high school offerings. PLTW provides a comprehensive approach to STEM Education. Through activity-, project, and problem-based curriculum, PLTW gives students in kindergarten through high school a chance to apply what they know, identify problems, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning. For educators, their teacher professional development model provides tools to transform the classroom into a collaboration space where content comes to life.  In September 2015, Heywood Avenue Elementary School introduced Project Lead the Way Gateway Program into its middle school curriculum, offering students two STEM-based programs of study.  Project Lead the Way programming has since expanded to include Oakwood Avenue Community School, Park Avenue School, and Rosa Parks Community School.
